I don’t think there is anybody who hasn’t heard of a Weber Genesis Gas Grill. You probably know someone who owns one, a family member, friend or colleague at work.
Weber is the number one most recognizable barbecue brand in the world and is probably the most popular and well liked gas barbecue on the market today and leading that popularity is the Weber Genesis Series of Gas Grills.
How do I know this?
I have been selling and servicing Weber Genesis Gas Grill’s for about 20 years, there have been a lot of changes in that time but their popularity has remained. I won’t insult your intelligence by telling you that this will be the last barbecue you ever own. That would be a bit like saying your car will be the last you ever own. Not likely.
What I can tell you is that this barbecue has a very good chance of lasting as long as you want it to and that is of course if you maintain it. The Weber Genesis Gas Grill is a great barbecue but lack of maintenance will definitely decrease its lifetime, but don’t worry I’ve got you covered and you’ll find a separate page that will show you how to maintain you Weber grill.
Everything you need to know about the new Weber Genesis design
You have been doing your research and have undoubtedly heard about Webers design change on the Genesis line of grills. Is it good, bad or just another sales feature. First off the design change was necessary because of flaws in the previous design that were overlooked. I know that I heard it from my customers again and again that there was a lack of prep space on the previous generation and virtually no shelf space if you had the side burner.
With the new Weber Genesis Grill design you now have at least one side shelf and the side burner is flush mount so as long as you don’t put anything too heavy on it then you can also use that shelf assuming that your not using the side burner.
Weber states that you get more room for indirect cooking on the new models, I don’t really think that was an issue on the older versions, at least not that I heard from my customers and I certainly didn’t notice that on my own Genesis Grill, but I will believe what they say.
To me the greatest advantage of the new Weber Genesis design is the addition of the optional sear burner, this option was very popular on the Summit series and now you can get the sear burner without the extra size and expense of the Summit.
The sear burner is designed the same as the Weber Summit, they added an extra burner to be used with the middle burner to create a area on the grill that will get hot enough to sear your steaks to perfection. Now there is a tradeoff, this sear station does not get as hot as an infrared burner but it also doesn’t take up any extra grill space when not in use.
So you have to ask yourself why do so many people own a Weber Genesis Grill?
Like you, they simply wanted something that offers really even heat and lasts a long time! So when you purchase your Weber Genesis Grill that’s what you get, one of the best cooking and longest lasting barbecues on the market today. And let’s face it, you still get what you pay for.
The Weber Genesis Gas Grill has been continuously produced since 1985 and has been a best seller since that time, many people who own Weber’s are repeat buyers and have handed down their original grills to family members. I still work on a lot Genesis Grills from the 80′s and 90′s and in the 20 years that I have been servicing barbecue grills I have found them to be the most reliable and long lasting grills on the market.
I have always been impressed with the warranty offered by Weber and the fact that they offer 24/7 customer service. But to me the absolute best warranty is the one that you never have to use.
There are (5) different models in the Genesis Series and all are available in either propane or natural gas.
